Wondering 'Will God forgive me, after all I have done?' This bible study will help
You've probably heard about Jesus Christ. Perhaps, one too many times for comfort. From one of your friends or through the gospel being preached. Now, as you read this lesson and ponder salvation, the yearning for more is present, way down in your being. You may have passed this off as mere curiosity. But as you search for answers, there is yet something … something that has been holding you back from taking that walk of faith.
This captivating feeling can come in all forms. Self Doubt. Guilt. Fear. Worry and the List go on.
As desire shoots up within you, right beside it comes that nagging question: Can God save me? Will God Forgive Me? After all I have done, will a holy God accept a person like me?
Is there anything in me that God can use? Why would God even bother with me?
Am I speaking to you right now?
Am I speaking the secrets or worries of your heart?
Well you are not alone. Similar thoughts have plagued my mind as well.
My version went a little like this … ‘What can God do with someone so
insignificant? Someone that seemed to do everything wrong? Someone this
For, like me, you may be thinking that you are too long gone for Jesus Christ to reach you but you are wrong. God Can Save You. Actually, my friend, He specializes in things that seems quite impossible to the eyes of man. Because He is well able.
Simple answer. Because He endlessly loves you and I. What's so amazing is that God specializes in saving people just like you and I:
Isaiah 1: 18 "Come
now, and let us reason together, says the LORD, though your sins are
like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like
crimson, they shall be as wool."
If you were to really think about it, wouldn't those questions above be the best reasons why God would gladly save us? For
Any and every one, that knows you or knew your past, will not be able to deny that you've met with Jesus Christ! God will then get the glory and others will be drawn to him just by your testimony alone. Now that is a very powerful reason for salvation, don't you think?
Are you trapped in a situation, in a relationship or maybe even in addictions? And are wondering Can God save me? As this question circle in your mind, let’s read what Jesus says to your concerns:
Mark 2:17 King James Version (KJV)
"… They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."
You might be saying right now, 'Girl you can talk, but I have done things that will make you shudder! God can't possibly forgive me'
But you are wrong:
( I Call Witness # 1 to the Stand … The Apostle Paul )
The Sins of Paul ( Acts chapter 7 – 9)
There are many examples in the scriptures, of the life transforming impact that Christ can make on the person God saved for his glory. Let’s take Paul for instance. Let's go to Acts chapter 7 to chapter 9 to see this in action. Paul, a man just like you and I, was
In today’s society we would call Paul a mass murderer!
But when he met with Jesus on Damascus road, the transformation began. Christ took him, saved him real good and sent him to deliver others. By Paul’s vessel alone thousands were saved, healed and set free!
Can God Save You? I know he can!
( I Call Witness # 2 to the Stand … King David)
The Life of David ( 2 Samuel chapter 11)
In the life of David he was very careful to follow the commandments of God to the letter. Like human, he made mistakes but he corrected them, asked for forgiveness and then moved on. But one day he slipped. And when he slipped … he SLID!
He got himself overwhelmed with Lust. The desire consumed him so much that he decided that he must have the wife of another man…which is adultery! Then he got the man’s wife pregnant! To get out of his predicament he decided that the easiest thing to do was to kill the man!
So from lust – to adultery – to pregnancy - to MURDER! Wow.
King David robbed that man of everything that he held dear to him.
So, did God cast away King David for his mistakes? No, instead, God had mercy. King David was shown his faults and after repentance, he was forgiven. God loved him none the less! Throughout scripture King David was known as the ‘apple of God’s eye’. This was not because he did everything perfect; No. It was because of his heart! He had a heart to do right by God.
Will God forgive you as well?
Do you have a heart to do right by God? Then, I know he can save you and he will! This is what God’s word says:
Psalms 103: 11 - 12
as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward
those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He
removed our transgressions (sins) from us."
God sent his son into the world not to condemn the world but that the world through might be saved'
If my words do not quell your concerns, then these two testimonies will sure do the trick. As we say in the Caribbean, they are 'Coming Straight from the Horse's Mouth'
These clips show two individuals, who have been where you must be right now, and thought everything you might also be thinking, right now. But God's mercy was extended and his salvation was as real in their lives as it was 2000 years ago.
I may not know the details of your past, but God knows. And his arms of love are still outstretched because the truth is that God cares about you. He cares more about your soul and your Future than your Past!
If you are searching for just one person to believe in you. Through all your mistakes in the past, present and future. One person that will not give up on you …
If you are searching for one person that believes that anyone can be helped. Someone that will keep secrets without turning their face away. Someone that will settle any guilty conscience that you may be experiencing…
Then I introduce just the right person to you.
There is someone … that, in spite of our condition, looks beyond - way in the distance - and see what we can become. He sees what we shall be, with his intervention! Won’t it be wonderful to know that no matter what others may believe, there is one person that for them –we are worth it?
This someone is Jesus Christ. He loves you and he is ready to welcome you to peace, joy and freedom.
