Abundant Living Bible Studies

Home>abundant living

I don't know about you but I am tired of living hand-to-mouth.

When God said that the cattle on a thousand hills are His!

I am even more tired of working day in and day out just to make a dollar, and sometimes that's still not enough to cover the bills.

Every blessing and every promise that was ever uttered from the mouth of God, that is contained in this bible, belongs to us. And David said best in Psalms 84:11 :

"... no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly "

I'm tired of being sick. And sick and tired of being sick and tired when God made us in perfectly healthy bodies.

This is not God's intention for us.

It's high time that we (me included) embrace, believe and take action on the Word of God for our lives.

The Change that we seek in our lives begins with us. We must change.

for us to see the PATH to abundant living, and see transformations happen around and in our lives.

Oh, David said it so sweetly when he said "create in me a clean heart Oh God, and renew the right Spirit within me"

That's where this Abundant living bibles series comes in.  We are turning things inside out and making some radical changes.

There's no use pretending that we've got it all figured out when both of us know that there's still so much that we don't understand. But I will share as much as I can with you; as you do the same.

And together - along with the instructions found in the Word of God- abundant living is ours.

To God be all the praise!

So, we will dive right in ...

What does abundance mean?

Abundance comes from the Greek word Perissos which means:

  1. More than enough
  2. Exceeding expectations, anticipations and limitations
  3. All around Excess
  4. Going beyond  what is required or sufficient; more than is needed or desired; extra.

Now think about this definition and apply it to every aspect of your life , and you will see the mind of our God towards you and I….

... All around Excess. All around Success.

Start picturing your day in abundance

What does abundant living look like for you?

If you were to picture one day in complete abundance what does it look like for you?

Now take a pen and paper, and jot down your personal definition of abundant living. What does it include?

  • Would you measure it by the amount of money you have in the bank?  Meaningful friendships? Or a close knit family unit?
  • Is it the ability to go anywhere you please, at any moment in time?
  • Or maybe, for you, wealth is having a healthy body, or lots of food in the cupboard?

Start picturing your definition for abundant living.

When I wrote my definition of abundant living it included:

  1. Living debt free, in my own home and being sustained by the food that is grown on the land ( being near a lake is an added bonus!)
  2. Growing in Christ and walking in my purpose: touching lives as I travel the world on mission trips
  3. Having flexibility to move when the need arises
  4. Having a profitable business
  5. Living in good health: creating and eating nutritious food
  6. Having a loving, laughing and supportive family unit

Now, what ever you've placed on that paper, understand this: that God has gone wayyyy beyond and beyond what our mind can even think of! Imagine that!

He want for us all around excess, and all around success, exceed expectations and limitations.

So, my mind only thought about owning my own home, when God has bigger plans in mind! My mind only thought about having a profitable business, when he has businesses in mind!

See where I am going?

Our definition of abundant living may be a start, but it is definitely not the end because God has something in store that we will not have room enough to receive it!

Glory! glory! glory!

It's Time For Me To Testify

For years I wanted a degree. I saw my brothers and sisters, leave for overseas, came back with degrees and  I was left wondering what about me?  I did not have that much money and the thought of having a student loan looming over my head for years after was completely out of the question.

I believed God for the impossible!

I started looking for scholarships, praying for scholarships, any kind of scholarships, but my God was planning something else so different. I was called into my office on my job, and was given a promotion that came with doing a degree. God flung that door open wide, and my degree was paid for completely ( without me asking for a dime!) and now I am in my third year of a Bachelors in Business Management:Human Resources.

Did I say that I did not have to pay a dime! Yep, you heard right! Not-a-dime.

God has his own flare. And he does a mighty fine job at providing for his children. He does not need our suggestions, he has it covered.

What does prosperity look like?

If prosperity was to jump up and give us a kiss on the cheek would we even realize that we are prosperous?

What does it really mean?

The word Prosperity comes from the root word prosper and the Greek word for this is ‘Euodoo’ which means

  1. to have a successful journey through life
  2. to be on the right path that leads to good fortune

There are many attempts to limit abundance and prosperity to our pocket books and bank accounts. But God does not limit abundant living to money.

If your basic needs have been met, and you know that you are on the right path that leads to good fortune, then you are walking in prosperity right now.

But God exceeds expectations and limitations, remember? So, let's see what he has in mind ...

We may think we are prosperous now but God has a whole other level in mind

Listen carefully to what God has said concerning you and I:

3 John 2

‘Beloved, I wish above all things,

that thou mayest prosper and be in health

even as thy soul prospereth.

Above every other promise, above every other purpose and intention that God has for our lives, he says that he wishes above all, that we prosper .

God wants prosperity for us, so much so, that he has placed it as the number one priority on his ‘Wish List’

Not just our souls which means not just our spiritual man, but everything that we touch!

Every thought that enters our mind, he wants the result to exceed everyone’s expectations.

He wants good fortune for us and a successful journey throughout all our endeavors.

And yes…health for our physical bodies.

And where is that? …… AT THE TOP OF HIS ‘WISH LIST’

There's nothing wrong with having more than enough

There is nothing wrong with having more that enough! ( what becomes sin, is what we choose to do with it... but that's another story :))

So how can we begin to adjust our lives so that we can receive what God has for us? It begins with

  1. our mindset
  2. our thoughts and emotions

Is Abundant living found in the bible?

There's a boatload of scriptures to support me when I say, that God wants his people to walk, live and breathe abundance.

I especially like these three scriptures on abundance:

  1. Psalms 36:8
  2. "They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures."
  1. Psalms 23: 5 "Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over."
  2. But Moses went above and beyond in his description of abundance in Deuteronomy 28: 1 - 68 Let me give you a little bit of the intro: "And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe [and] to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth"

My, mighty, my, my! Move over world, God is coming through! This has nothing to do with us or our efforts, now. Deuteronomy says, if we keep his commandments, then God will...

He will do the setting!

And who can stand in the way of the Almighty God?

There are tons of promises that God has made concerning us that is listed in this wonderful Word of God. They are plastered all over the pages of Deuteronomy. God has mentioned in his word:

  • He will set you on high above all the nations of the earth (Deut 28: 1-2)
  • You shall be blessed in the city and in the field ( Deut 28:3)
  • You shall be above only and not beneath ( Deut 28: 13)
  • You shall be the head and not the tail ( Deut 28: 12)
  • You shall lend and not borrow ( Deut 28: 12)

This is just a scraping of the surface. I have not even begun listing blessings and promises as yet. Can you imagine that? God wants our lives to be filled with all good things and running over.

You may be saying, ( in the best Roman King voice you can conjure at this moment) "away with those scriptures", I want practical proof.

Mirror mirror on the wall: Who's the most successful of them all

I know. I know. I am terrible at fair tales.

But that's not the point. :)

There is one truth, that if we were to do a little digging we will soon realize that one of the most successful groups of people on earth is the Jewish people ( God's chosen people) who gives strict adherence to the words and the 613 commandments of God.

In the best seller "The Spirit of Jewish Culture" Sai Ni Ya wrote that Jews “are the most intelligent, mysterious, and the wealthiest people in the world."

Nooo, this is not merely just coincidence but evidence of two things :

1) That God's word is true: that if we keep his commandments he will set us upon high place of the earth.

2) That it does not have to be one or the other: It is possible to be in business, have great abundance, and still walk in his word and remain completely dedicated to the things of God.

So what's the pattern?

Faith Bible Study Lessons

  1. Understanding Faith
  2. The Faith That Works
  1. Faith: Without faith it is impossible to receive anything from God. Everyone of us was given a measure of faith. And with this faith, we can move mountains!
  2. Study the lives of the successful: If their methods line up to the Will of God found in his Word, then, it's time to begin using their strategies in your life
  3. Study the Jewishness ( as Sai Ni Ya calls it): If the Jews are one of the most successful then it pays to study their strategies, don't you think? If it works for them, it will for us as Children of the King.
  4. Read Books: left by men and women instructing us on the path to follow. This is a great time to be alive. There is so much value in the world. So much information. What ever you need, you can find.

Conclusion

We can do this, and we will do this.

If you are shouting: "I am with you Joan!" then leave a message below and share this message with a friend or family who needs to hear these words. God's blessings are sure.

Be safe
