Salvation Bible Study

Welcome to this in depth salvation bible study Lesson 1 , God's plan of salvation. This is a wonderful three part lesson geared to unravel the truth about God's great intention for the salvation of our Spirit, Soul and Body .

What was the before and after events? How and when did this salvation take place? I suggest that you get your bibles ready because we are going to be digging in the Word of God!

This is going to get real sweet...

1 Thessalonian 5: 23

"And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Yes, ( *singing ) Jesus paid it all! All to him I owe...

To God be all the praise, for he performed the ultimate miracle.
He gave us our ‘life’ back!

Could you imagine that we were all dead?
Dead men walking! Until Salvation.

We were not always dead, but because of DECEIPT that was our end result.

We will soon learn more about this DECEIPT in this lesson ... but before we do so. Do you remember learning what 'save' really means in this salvation bible study lesson? In it we first had a glimpse in Gods plan of salvation and we've learn't one amazing thing about this salvation process. We've learn't that salvation just does not mean that God has forgiven our sins, but it includes the salvation of our spirit, the deliverance for our soul and healing for our body.

We are triune beings: Spirit, Soul and Body.

What you see is not what you get with us. We are wayyyy more.

Let's dig in a little deeper shall we ...

God's Plan: Salvation bible study; first thing's first

Many are finding it difficult to accept that for every one of us, there are much more to us than what meets the eye. Many believe that what we see is what we get. But we can only see our bodies and that is far from the magnitude of who we really are.

The truth is, that the real you: your personality, your will and emotions cannot be seen by our natural eyes. For we are Spirit first, then Soul and then Body. We have three parts that come together, to form a whole.

This evidence is found in the word of God above you. Do you see the order in which it was written in 1 Thessalonians 5:23?

"And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."

I always leave tips around this website: One very important tip is 'take nothing in the bible that we read for granted'. Now we can understand that there is a reason for the way it is written.

It's Spirit FIRST, soul SECOND, then BODY

So we are three parts that come together, to form a whole, our Spirit being first. So when Adam fell, these three parts were affected. His Spirit. His Soul. And his body felt the effects. Adam could not longer live forever!

So, we must first understand that we are triune beings before we can move on.

Why ?

Because this is where the salvation plan will begin to make sense.

God did not focus on just fixing our Spirit alone. He focus on our whole man! You can also see this as evidence in 1 Thessalonians 5:23.

Do you see that world 'wholly'? My God is awesome!

So the ‘very God of peace’ had a work to do, not only on our Body, or our Soul but our whole Being. A sanctification or a cleansing had to come for every aspect of our being. So that we can become pure again.

So Jesus exhibited a mighty sacrificial love. And why would it have been necessary unless something had gone totally wrong! He left his splendor to be ...

So on that day when Adam and Eve sinned what happened? What damage did Sin cause to our Spirit, Soul and Body? These lessons will answer our questions and take it one step further to reveal more in this salvation bible study.

Stay with me, it's about the get really interesting!

When Adam Sinned: What Went Wrong?

In short - sin.

Because our Spirit comes first, let's focus now on our Spiritual man to find out what happened when sin entered the picture: For answers, let’s flip the pages back to the front of the Bible. WE ARE GOING BACK TO THE BEGINNING …

At the beginning everything was perfect. God breathed into man's nostrils 'the breath of life' and man became a living soul. Do not be fooled, my friend, into thinking that this ‘breath’ had anything to do with Oxygen.

The word 'breath' comes from the Hebrew word 'neshamah' or 'ruach' which means:

  • divine inspiration : ( find out meaning)
  • intellect ( find out meaning)
  • wind
  • Spirit ; Spirit of God

Amazing! So imagine Adam, formed and fashioned in all his maleness! But his body was just lying on the ground. Lifeless. Expressionless. Defenseless, and evidently useless, in that condition. So God breathed ...

And when God breathed into Adam there was instantaneous movement. Because God the life giver, imparted in man a portion of himself. He imparted life, divine inspiration, intellect, and a portion of His Spirit.

Is this word coming alive in you?!

It's really getting hott in here!

When God imparted His Spirit, He gave unto Adam the tool that was necessary for him to freely commune and be one with him( more on this in a next lesson. lol ). Without it, this would have been impossible :

1 Corinthians 10:14

But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: For the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God … even so the thing of God knoweth no man, but the spirit of God. Now we have received, not the Spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things we speak … which the Holy Ghost teacheth … but the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: For they are foolishness unto Him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Can you see what miraculously took place that day? Do you see what 1 Corinthians is saying? Adam in his natural state would not have been able to receive or understand anything. It would have seemed foolish to him. So God imparted His Spirit.

Hey! that deserves a jig right there!

It is no wonder that Adam had such sweet communion with God in the garden. He even named the animals without any objections from God.

Now that is some divine inspiration right there, and that has got to be some serious harmony!

Seeing that we have now established what happened at the beginning, let's bring this salvation bible study in full circle to reveal Gods plan for our Spirit Man.

Hold on to your seats. It's gonna get even more interesting!

The Death of the Spirit Man

So far we’ve discovered the free and clear communion that existed between God and man. There were no blockages in the pipes. Everything flowed freely. There was oneness. The was harmony, all because God gave Adam a very important part of him. His Spirit.

In came DECEIPT of the Enemy

Then, It all Changed ….

When Adam Sinned.

Sin, and Death crept in and undid what had been done at the beginning. It is our Spirit that died. Physically Adam was standing upright, but his Spirit was already dead. Dead in trespasses and in sin.

The union that was there between Adam and God had been cut. God was no longer able to flow through him and use him. He was no longer able to hear and understand spiritual things; instead he walked by earthly desires, emotions and passions. He had become total and completely natural.

When we examine the Greek understanding for the word dead, 'nekros', it reveals some amazing understandings of what took place in Adam. He became

  • in active
  • not able to respond to impulses or perform functions
  • ineffective, dead, powerless
  • unresponsive to life giving influences or opportunities
  • in operative to the things of God

Now this is exactly what happened to Adam. But guess who inherited this as well? We did!

Romans 5:12

"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned"

Because of One Man Actions ...

Because of one man's actions ( Adam) our spiritual man was also affected. Every single one of us, before we gave our life to Christ, our Spirit Man was ‘inactive, powerless, unresponsive and inoperative to the things of God.’ We had no desire for spiritual things.

We were dead!

Before, sin we had no limitations but after sin, we became weighed down with hindrances.

Re-awakening Of the Spirit

Gods plan of salvation for our Spirit Man is 'Re-awakening'

Now here is the good part. By one man's actions ( Jesus) we are given the opportunity to LIVE again.

God Almighty sent help!

Let’s look at what happened miraculously through Jesus Christ

Ephesians 2:1 (KJV)

"And you hath he quickened (made alive) who were dead in trespasses and sins"

So we have already established that we were dead men walking. Then Jesus paid the ultimate price and died on the Cross, gave up his life, was buried, then was resurrected. He was resurrected by and through the 'quicken Spirit of the Holy Ghost. Remember what Paul said ...

Romans 8:11 (KJV)

"But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you."

So how were we made alive?

Now here’s the sweet part, here’s the clincher:  the whole answer is found in this next scriptures:

John 6:63

"It is the spirit that quickeneth, the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life."

So it is of this selfsame quickening Spirit Paul is speaking to the Ephesians. And it is through this same quickening Spirit we all have been made to LIVE again! As Paul said to the Ephesians I proclaim to you today:

..... "you hath he made alive who were dead in trespasses and sins!" We are alive!

So Jesus resurrection and ascension into heaven caused something great to happen. The Holy Ghost which is the indwelling Spirit of God was sent!

Salvation begins when we say yes to Jesus Christ but it is the Holy Ghost, that indwelling Spirit of God, that Instantaneously Awakens Our Spirit Man. And through him we are made alive again!

This was the intent of Jesus' death and resurrection; to undo what was done when sin entered the picture. Do you see God's plan shining through?

Jesus gave us what I like to refer to as a 'Spiritual Electric Jolt' and now the scriptures says, it is only through that Spirit we can understand spiritual things. Do you see the importance of this Holy Ghost?

John 14: 26 - "But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."

John 15: 26- "But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, [even] the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me":

My God, I feel like yelling Halleluiah in salvation bible study session! Halleluiah!!!

Christ wiped our slate clean, as if nothing ever went wrong in the first place, we became new creations. So instead of the negative of 'dead', which is ...

  • in active
  • not able to respond to impulses or perform functions
  • ineffective, dead, powerless
  • unresponsive to life giving influences or opportunities
  • in operative to the things of God

... we are now the complete opposite. We are now, more than 'EFFECTIVE, POWERFUL, ACTIVE, AND OPERATIVE TO THE THINGS OF GOD! So he endured the cross, died and was resurrected so that we can be made alive. Halleluiah to Jesus!

We have been made

I am excited right now for this word! So, if you have any body around you right now, just slap them on the shoulder and say "I’m alive and well!”

Leave a comment below and say with with me 'I'm alive and well!'

As we give ourselves over more and more to the will of his Spirit; as we begin to listen to his voice and direction; we begin to see transformations. We will begin to change. Say to your neighbor “We are going back to where we once was in God”.

Bless the name of Jesus.

We have now reached the end of Lesson 1: Reawakening The Spirit', in this plan of salvation bible study. Join us in Lesson 2 as we take the next step, and learn new things, and understand even more with Gods plan of salvation for our soul. Hmmm... this should be interesting!
